Book Recommendation for Web Apps
We’d like to recommend a book for developing your web apps. While LabCatsCoding has all the material a student should need, when you start developing your own web apps you might have the need for additional resources. Searching the web is great but sometimes a book is even better. Though expensive. It can be confusing to select the right book.
I own a lot of tech books. I just glanced at my office shelf and counted 27. And that’s just the current ones that I still use. Though some age better then others. And even though I don’t think I’ll ever program C again -I can’t get rid of the classic “The C Programming Language” by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie that I used in college. Look – it still has the Newcomb Hall Bookstore price tag on it. Expensive even then given that it is only 265 pages. Downright slim for a programming book! I think of them often like door stoppers.
The book I recommend for web apps is a book that I use often and have even been rereading because it really pulls together so well all the essentials of building a web application is Learning PHP, My SQL & JavaScript. Which is just what I teach in our courses JavaScript Essentials, Learning PHP, Database & SQL, Basics of Web Apps. It would be a great reference for any of my students. It’s well written, easy to read and follows along closely with my courses.
